Polyquaternium-10 (PQ-10) is a cationic cellulose polymer derived from hydroxyethyl cellulose and modified with quaternary ammonium groups. With excellent water solubility, strong adsorption capacity and high cationic substitution, Polyquaternium-10 is widely used as a multifunctional conditioning polymer in hair care and personal care formulations. It has good affinity for hair and skin surfaces, helping improve the overall sensory performance of finished products.

Polyquaternium-10 provides excellent conditioning, antistatic and film-forming properties. It can form a smooth protective film on the hair surface, helping improve wet and dry combability, softness, manageability and hair feel. The cationic nature of Polyquaternium-10 promotes effective deposition onto negatively charged hair, making it particularly suitable for cleansing systems. It also offers good water solubility, low irritation and compatibility with a variety of surfactant systems. Depending on the grade, Polyquaternium-10 can also contribute to viscosity and formulation texture.

Polyquaternium-10 is widely applicable in shampoos, conditioners, 2-in-1 shampoos, hair masks, hair treatments, hair styling products, body washes and cleansing products. It is especially suitable for formulations requiring improved conditioning, detangling, softness and antistatic performance. Polyquaternium-10 can also be used in transparent or clear cleansing formulations when the selected grade is compatible with the formulation system.
